Once a police officer graduates from the academy, his first foray into the real world, his first assignment actually is in a lowly, petty criminal infested sidewalk of an obnoxious corner in the metropolis.

Here he learns the trick of the trade, the real world, on how to deal with paltry snatchers, minor fencers, small time robbers and mean thugs.  His environment is such that he becomes a part and a moving parcel, “educated” in the ways of the street that for him, it is no longer that which surrounds him that matters but the community where subsequently he will be posted; and, from his perspective, the community has become his prey and that eventually he has (wittingly or unwittingly) transformed himself into a neighborhood predator already.

Since he cannot change the overwhelming influence of lawless elements around him, he would rather redirect his newly acquired strength against the subdued law abiding citizens within his sight.  He is after all a law enforcer and he can flex his muscle, completely aided by authority and even formally fitted with lethal weapons to drive his point—whatever to him would get some recompense.  He knew that challenging transgression oftentimes lead to fatal ends; he would rather play on the safe side.  Police stories depicted in film are surreal portrayal of factual incidents.  Fiction is not as strange as fact.

Thus was born and raised a persona who is not only a chip lifted from a criminal picture, not only a figment of social concern, but a real creature haunting the locality where he is assigned.

Academic Preparation

Let us look further back into where these characters were bred and trained.  Let us check who their superiors were and the background of those which composed the faculty of trainers.  Aside from the fact that their first assignment is an unhealthy environment, it is also wise to check how come their vulnerabilities were triggered to an unwholesome image after graduation.  There is a direct link on their so called academic courses (where deadly hazing is oftentimes a ritual for admission) and the issue of mentoring will have to be analyzed.

Note that those who rose in rank to become mentors were believed to be those pulled out from the field for inefficiency or out rightly inept.  These are the very people entrusted to introduce values on the mind of malleable and highly impressionistic trainees.  The academe is not your usual place for scholarship since instructors are paid paltry sums.  They must have sidelines to sustain their ranks, to keep their flesh and bones together.  The trainees are their prey and education was merely a tag for the trainors’ livelihood scheme.

Police education like that which is found in commercial schools is not actually up to its merits but  some kind of a bureaucratic means to satisfy requirements for formality.  There is no value infused except in buying time and earning units to get entry in a position to subdue community, not in those places which offensive people populate but where law abiding citizens congregate.  That has achieved a certain level of consciousness which unbearably has become a form of tradition.

The Real World of Crime

Law enforcement is no longer a mysterious, nay a noble, job to apply.  Crime busting and spreading of crime sounds almost the same.  The trainees as gullible victims had the time in the world to get back, not at their tormentors or masters but at those innocent and frail looking initiates in the free community.  It is now their turn to improvise on what they have learned.

The law enforcers are now on their own.  Either they become actors in the art of crime busting for purposes of taking over the lucrative field on crime since it can pay handsomely or they make do with whatever flimsy felony as long as it satisfies them regularly.

In the science of biosphere, the presence of a toxic bacterium in a single apple, if the fruit is not removed from the rest of healthy ones, in a flick could infect the whole stock.  The same can also be inferred in the whole apparatus of law enforcement.  There must be a means to check where this pernicious element came from.

Who are the Law Enforcers?

Law enforcers were typecast as your friendly neighborhood policemen.  They merely supply the stereotype.  Law enforcement is also a tag for prison officers, fire marshals, traffic enforcers, agents of law, in other words, the workforce of the entire criminal justice administration.  It is not enough to check on their immersion background, not only the training school where they have been into but also on their upbringing.
