Those charged with kidnapping are detained in jails until the promulgation of their cases.  While in detention, the suspects remain in custody (kidnapping is unbailable) and their visitors known not only to jail authorities but also to their fellow detainees.  Those charged with this offense have an uncanny way of projection.  They look accomplished, their taste almost discriminating and their generosity extends to their superiors.  But once, there is conviction and they are brought to prison, a space is created, a vacuum of munificence felt instantly and every made to reach out to their benefactor is immediately conducted.

Syndicates are formed through critical collaboration.  The gang member, an enterprising one would volunteer to their guard or their protector in the law enforcement field to work on a project for squeezing out whatever it is to be grasped.  A motley group is formed to stalk the visitor after visitation and from there; they are, wherever they may be outside of the penal reservation, flagged down.  The visitors are held and questioned on the basis of their affiliation with the convicted person and malice immediately imputed as if the visitors are accomplices in the crime for which the convict has been penalized.  Negotiation starts.  As a result, the kin of the kidnapper falls into the trap in a quasi kidnapping activity.

With the influx of cases where leaders of major kidnapping groups were held and on top of them, leaders of drug syndicates, the prison camp literally became a rich farm land for counter syndicates on which to base their take on a lucrative kidnapping activity.

For the last two years, incidents of stalking, abduction and kidnapping have been the travail the kin of prisoners in high profile cases have undergone.  It’s a tragic-comedy affair.  Those who lived a high end life bordering on celebrity status brought about by syndicated crime are now at the tail end of the same modus operandi they have employed for a time, this time around, they are at the receiving end of the criminal negotiation.  A case of crime versus crime.

The vicious cycle which the offenders have started would have gone full circle.  It is a defining moment for those who subscribe to karmic philosophy.  It is also a bit Biblical along the line, what was sowed will be reaped; or, more direct, what you have done to others, will redound to you in return, something of that sort.

There seems to be no end in sight for this criminal phenomenon.  It is an affliction which bothers the denizens of the prison community specially those who succeeded in their illicit trade.  It is ailment they have introduced and this time, it is them suffering from it. But it is a concern which borders on the ludicrous, since those at the rallying stage are not the usual gangs one finds within the fold of Mafiosi but this time around, members of law enforcement agency.  It is something that spells infection, something that is already outside of police procedures based on textbook.  It is a lesson which may be passed on as Criminal Acts 101.

US law enforcement, after a couple days, was able to pin down the identities of those involved in the Boston bombing incident.  Two boys almost out of their juvenile years, a 26 year old and another a 19 year old students of Boston school.   They are brothers.   Both are migrants from Chechnya, a Russian minor province.  Their parents sought sanctuary in US soil and applied for citizenship which eventually was granted.

What is behind this?  What is the persuasion behind the bombing?  Who stands to benefit from the violent mayhem committed?  What exactly will settle maiming several innocent civilians in the resulting carnage?  Assuming that the identified culprits, boys in their early adulthood, were the bombers, what compelled them to do it?  The crime is not one of passion, an instant, something which could have pushed them or made them snap.  It is a crime with deliberation as shown from the devise they used.  It was a slow, predetermined effort to work slowly in preparing a home-made bomb.  They boys barely out of their juvenile years, inexperienced in the field of terrorism, may have been inspired or lured into something sinister.

Surely, these boys acted with care, discretion and discernment.  They knew the consequences.  The bomb they were carrying had a purpose, one that would express their feelings and concerns.  They do not even look like they were the hopeless and desperate kind.    They were admitted in prestigious schools and the younger one even became a state scholar.  From a rural Russian province, these boys were reintroduced into American life and for a decade they were literally assimilated.  Their adjustment must have been too punishing psychologically for them.  While they grew as kids of strict Islamic environment, the American liberal atmosphere proved too generous for their adventurous and rebellious nature.  They were not only brought up in a copious community but fed with freethinking.  This may have been what inspired them to express and enforce their lethal plans.

The evil duo, a label of hatred they got after being identified as the culprits, believed, and may have subscribed in the mantra that one must destroy something in order to build a new one.  History of warfare yields numerous dramatic pictures where an area is bombed into extinction or bombed if only to be reconstructed into an ideal setting.  A Biblical scenario may have been noted also where Sodom and Gomorrah was flattened by an angry God because of excessive and sinful living.   Scholars know this.  The problem however with migrants is their conservative appreciation of where they are situated.  The feeling of alienation, of being unfit, of being belittled if not discriminated rule their day.  In USA, not so much in Europe, discrimination is the order of the day.  Life in the US has become impersonal to the point that life is mistaken as routine and ordinary.  Those who succeed are the most objective.  Migrants are basically a subjective lot.

It is not surprising that in places where impersonal relationship is descriptive of environment, heinous crime prevail.  An urban area which has achieved quite a level of barbaric hostility is ripe for any criminal mind to explode his evil deeds.  Denizens in these places should always be vigilant and always on the alert.    They must also be on their guard and if possible familiar with martial arts.  Without this component, any person is like a prey innocently roaming in a predatory environment.  Here, it is either the government or vigilantes who must stabilize the surroundings.  In their absence, the citizens are threatened with extinction.

Robbers no longer prey upon the valuables of the people; they are even more predisposed in terminating their victims after the heist.  A Frenchman was waiting for taxi one morning when his clutch bag was snatched.  The 68 year old tried to fend off but was shot several times.  Where are these criminals coming from?

A text message is circulating in Bacolod as a counter move against churchmen in the province.  It came as a response when the High Court upheld the right of the church to display their tarpaulin on Team Buhay/ Team Patay crusade.  Now, here comes a Team Tatay—where names of clerics actively celebrating Mass and at the same time maintaining also a family, a no-no in a religious, almost monastic life for a Catholic priest.  Some kind of a karmic spoiler.  Tit for tat.

Several countries like Australia, China, Britain and US have issued warnings to their citizens not to visit southern Philippines lest they be kidnapped and violated.  This came about during the standoff in Sabah and other criminal incidents in the past.  While the Philippines has improved its standing on tourism and aviation industry, there is always the unfortunate iniquitous challenge posed by crooks.  One cannot but entertain the thought that there is wisdom in vigilantism.

A cum laude working student was held up while commuting and was eventually shot dead.  Gone were the days when robbers and killers were a different breed.  Now they are the same.  Street predators no longer respect life and property.  It is prey for them already.  There should be some kind of social cleansing, a biological warfare to resolve this nagging and unfortunate threat in public safety.  Human rights should be shelved at the moment.

A cab driver working on night shift was gunned down by its passenger at dawn in Sampaloc, Manila.  First, there was a foreigner, then a student.  Earlier, politicians were endangered with the forthcoming electoral exercise.  Indeed, there is a crime wave already manifesting in some parts of the country.  Lawbreakers are emboldened whenever there is a situation where people are virtually disarmed and almost helpless to fight back.

AT A GLANCE:  Filipinos wanted Sabah under Philippine government.  Filipinos in Sabah say yes but their currency should be in Ringgit!  There is a secret to growing hair faster although it is more common sense.  Accordingly, neither oil and chemical application nor spa can do it, only scalp massage says a skin specialist.  Beauty products contain skin irritants, chemicals that hasten wrinkles and worst, acting as carcinogens.  Be contented with the application of ripe papaya, egg yolk and coconut oil if you intend to protect your skin.  Go green as the saying goes.
